Danzon in Houston, Texas???

I learned basic Danzon while living in Cuernavaca, Morelos, MEXICO.
Before I forget all of it I'd like to find other Danzoneros in Houston.
Anyone interested in forming a Danzon network and regular get-togethers?

Hi Pasha, I can't offer any Houston connections, but I would like to welcome you to the forums.

Check back to our website now and then, you never know if the Orquesta will play out your way, they did play in Texas a few years ago. Also, sometimes Roberto Borrell offers danzon dance classes, usually in the San Francisco area, but if you're out this way that might also be nice for you to check out.

If anyone else has a shared interest in danzon and is in the Houston area I'd encourage you to post and get in touch with pasha.

Also be sure to check out the Orquesta's music, some ofi it available for free download in the Sounds page. The new CD will be coming out in a few months.

I'm a local musician that specializes in Afro-cuban dance music. I've been looking to put together a solid charanga band for a long time with emphasis on danzon and cha-cha but its been tough getting it off the ground. Unfortunetly there are few violinists in the area that can handle the genre well.

From a dance standpoint I have been looking for an instructor but to no avail.
