| Does anybody know the dance steps? Basic and intermediate, I'm very interested in learning this beautiful dance. I've been looking everywhere for info. on this subject but it seems nobody knows how to dance danzon here in California. If that is the case is a shame if this beautiful form of art is lost. |

Hi Ray, welcome to the forums.
I wouldn't say nobody knows this dance form, at least up in Northern California, where for the last month or so the previous leader of the Orquesta has been giving dance classes in pure, classical Danzon.
Many of his students could also provide classes, and I suspect that there are more than a few Danzon fans down there in Southern California. Danzon also had and has a sizeable Mexican following, so it's out there, you just have to find it.
His long time students Dominic and Susan go down to Los Angeles now and then so you might be able to talk them into giving you a dance class or two, especially if you could collect a reasonably sized group for them to teach.
We'll see if anyone from Southern California can point you in the right direction, but right now you're just a 6 hour drive from your next Danzon class, with a true master of the art, Roberto Borrell. |
